Description
Wonderful vintage sewing pattern from the Australian Home Journal, published May 1950.

Please note that you purchasing:

* the original front sand back cover
* the original tissue paper sewing pattern
* a photocopy of the original complete magazine including complete sewing instructions

1950’s sewing patterns for
* Ladies Skirt and Bolero, 7536.
* Ladies Blouse and Skirt, 7537
* Ladies Frock, 7538

Original covers are approx. 27.5cm x 20.5cm - just a little smaller than A4.
The photocopied magazine is A4

The cover has a fair amount of damage. A couple of large tears and a missing piece from the bottom left hand corner.
The back cover has been trimmed to remove the damage to the side and bottom edges, the top edge has some chipping.

The pattern is in excellent condition. It appears to have never been used. Pieces appear to have not tears or pin holes, may be a very small amount of creasing. All pieces are accounted for.

This is 73 years old so all the original pages are old, the covers are brittle, but what a wonderful piece of fashion history.

Will be shipped in a rigid mailer.

Australian Home Journal started in the 1930s, by John Sands Ltd, Sydney as a fashion magazine, featuring mostly fashion-related content such as sewing and knitting patterns, fashion tips and updates on the latest trends. It became very well known and world renowned for its inclusion of on-trend sewing patterns. Australian Consolidated Press became the publisher in 1965 and the emphasis of the magazine shifted from fashion to homemaking in general.
